You choose original files from your device inside the plugin workspace. BeforeShare inspects and cleans those files locally in your browser. File contents, filenames, hidden metadata, and cleanup results are not uploaded to BeforeShare, sent through its MCP tools, or added to the conversation. The plugin does not automatically retrieve ChatGPT attachments.
The MCP server receives a fixed workflow choice (inspect, clean, or batch) and language (English, Spanish, or German) to open the workspace. It receives standard protocol and network information needed to serve that request. We do not intentionally log request bodies, create user profiles, use cookies or local storage in the workspace, or run analytics or advertising there. Google Cloud hosts the MCP endpoint and may retain technical request logs, including request timestamps, network addresses and user agents, for operational reliability and abuse prevention. Our default operational log bucket is configured to retain logs for 30 days. These logs do not contain local file contents or metadata results.
Files and results remain only in the browser workspace's working memory while it is open. Use “Forget files” to discard the workspace's references, or close the workspace. We cannot retrieve these files or results afterward. Downloads and reports that you save remain on your device until you delete them. Forgetting files does not erase saved downloads or the chat itself. Browser memory is managed by the browser; this control is not a secure disk-erasure tool.
No third party receives selected file contents or metadata from BeforeShare's workspace. Our hosting provider processes the technical network requests used to deliver the plugin. ChatGPT and other hosts separately process your conversation and tool interactions under their own policies. A file you already attached to ChatGPT is governed by ChatGPT's handling; local cleaning cannot erase that attachment.
Cleaning targets supported hidden metadata. Visible names, text, watermarks, PDF annotations and attachments may still reveal private information. Word tracked changes resolve to the current visible document, and a new PDF can invalidate digital signatures. Keep the original and review the copy before sharing.
