Remove C2PA metadata from an image
Use the cleaner below to create a fresh JPG, PNG, or WebP copy without embedded C2PA content credentials or provenance tags when they are stored as removable metadata.
Remove hidden AI metadata from images, including C2PA content credentials, creator-tool fields, model tags, prompt data, and related XMP provenance entries. Cleaning runs locally in your browser, so your image does not need to upload.

BeforeShare shows AI-related fields before cleanup, including creator-tool names, model tags, prompt-related values, software fields, and standard EXIF/XMP/IPTC data.
The image is processed in your browser. The file contents do not need to be uploaded to BeforeShare for the normal inspection and cleaning flow.

Many AI image tools save hidden provenance data inside the file. These fields can include the generator name, creator tool, model or workflow details, prompt-related text, timestamps, and C2PA content credentials.
BeforeShare creates a new cleaned image copy in your browser. That removes embedded metadata such as EXIF, XMP, PNG text chunks, creator-tool fields, and other hidden AI provenance tags attached to supported JPG, PNG, and WebP files.
C2PA is provenance metadata attached to a media file. It can identify the issuing tool, edits, signing information, and history when a compatible credential is embedded.
Some generators and workflows store prompt text, negative prompts, seeds, samplers, model names, checkpoints, LoRA names, or workflow JSON in XMP or PNG text fields.
A visible label, logo, signature, or platform badge is part of the image pixels. Metadata cleanup does not remove visible content.
If an image was already uploaded elsewhere, that platform may keep its own server copy or internal records. Cleaning your local file only changes the copy you download here.
Visible pixels, edits, crops, and image content remain. Metadata removal does not blur or redraw the picture.
Hidden EXIF, XMP, IPTC, PNG text chunks, creator-tool fields, timestamps, model settings, and content-credential metadata are removed when they are embedded in supported formats.
If the image visibly contains a watermark, signature, prompt text, username, or private detail, remove that separately before sharing.
Yes. BeforeShare creates a cleaned image copy that removes embedded metadata containers such as EXIF, XMP, IPTC, PNG text chunks, and content-credential fields when they are stored in the supported JPG, PNG, or WebP file.
No. It removes hidden metadata only. Visible watermarks, labels, signatures, or text inside the image pixels must be edited separately.
No. The normal BeforeShare workflow inspects and cleans the file locally in your browser.
AI and editing tools can store creator-tool fields, C2PA manifests, content credentials, prompt data, model names, workflow settings, software versions, and timestamps. Availability depends on the tool and export settings.
No. C2PA and Content Credentials are metadata/provenance records. A visible or pixel-level watermark is different and is not removed by metadata cleanup.
Yes. Use the metadata viewer or upload the image on this page first. BeforeShare shows detected AI/provenance fields before creating the cleaned copy.
